"SCHOOLS"

This is C.S. 6 located at the corner of E. Tremont and Vyse Avenues. My
niece Stephanie, attended this school from Pre-K to fifth grade, from 1998 to 2005. She was awarded the Principal's
Award and the Science Fair Medal among dozens of other merits and awards while attending this school.

This photograph was taken in 1942 on Putnam Avenue between 238th and 240th Streets
in front of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church and School in the Kingsbridge neighborhood and shows five girls that will
participate in their First Communion. The houses which appear on the left side of the photo are on Bailey Avenue.

James Monroe High School dominates Boynton Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood as
seen in this photo from 1946. The school's athletic field is to its rear, flanking Manor Avenue. To
the left is P.S. 77. The rest of the area is filled with semi-detached homes and apartment buildings.

This is P.S. 14 on Hollywood Avenue in the Throgs Neck neighborhood as we can see
in this 1946 photo. Lots of empty space can be seen here as the road is getting prepared for the widening

This school which is P.S. 119, stands on Pugsley and Blackrock Avenues in 1946.
Besides the wide open spaces, no traffic or pedestrains can be seen due to a major construction project which had begun.

Students from local schools are seen here walking along Castle Hill Avenue in this
photo from 1947. The street has many local shops, including a barber shop with its striped pole in front.
Further down stood the Garofalo Beauty Salon, a very popular hair stylist of that era. Straight ahead in
the distance we can see the elevated tracks of the IRT number 6 train Castle Hill Avenue Station.

Here's the Glee Club of P.S. 21 on 225th Street and White Plains Road, performing
in the school's auditorium in the early 1950s when this photo was taken. Some students from the surrounding Williamsbridge
neighborhood, on the left, watch the teacher Mrs. Heffernan in front of the piano leading the choir through a song.

Keating Hall on the Fordham University Campus, overlooks the large field upon which
students dressed in their ROTC uniforms are standing in formation on a beautiful day around the 1950s. A crowd
