"PLACES TO VISIT NOW"

This is Indian Lake in Crotona Park around 1935.   It was a perfect place to relax on any summer day.   We can see here a man relaxing and reading a book while sitting on a bench by the lake.   There were public telephones inside this house.   People were able to rent rowboats here for rowing in the lake.    - Photo courtesy of The Bronx County Historical Society Research Library.

This Howard Johnson's Restaurant was on the corner of Southern Boulevard and Fordham Road right across the street from one of the entrances to the Bronx Zoo as seen in this photo from the 1950s.   In the background to the right, Fordham Hospital can be seen.   The Southern Boulevard trolley tracks can be partially seen to the right also.    Today this exact location is occupied by a McDonalds Restaurant.  - Photo courtesy of The Bronx County Historical Society
